Network Setup Tab

Enable Managed Access Network

If this location will be connecting to a Managed Access Server to admit members from other locations, check this box. This will enable all other network options on this screen.

Use Server As Needed

If you would like Entrance Control to search the Managed Access Server for members that are not found in the local database (as member cards are scanned), check this box. Otherwise, Entrance Control will only communicate with the Managed Access Server when updating the member database.

Load Photos Automatically

If you would like Entrance Control to download and display visitor photographs as they are admitted, check this box (only recommended for high-speed network connections).

If using a slower connection (dial-up or a slower WAN connection), this option should remain unchecked. Using this method, Entrance Control will display the visitor information without a photograph (downloading photographs on slower connections can take up to ten seconds). If the user chooses, they may click the "Load" button to manually download and display the guest photograph.

Send Data to Server

When using the Managed Access Server, you may choose to upload new information as it is added to the system or to upload the information on a daily basis (e.g., midnight or a time when the system is rarely accessed).

When making this decision, it is important to consider the speed at which the location will be connecting to the server, as transmitting data can slow the system down considerably.
